Question

How do I convert a pdf file into a gif file as one image

Aug 30, 2013 4:47AM PDT

I need to convert an excel file to gif format. So I have converted the xls file to pdf and it is one image or file. However when I try ti convert to gif it always ends up as multiple files. In my case 10 separate files. I have tried several free ware programs and photo editors and all do the same thing plus the online ones have very poor quality.

I need a pdf to gif converter that has good quality and results in one image.

Any help would be appreciated.

Tom

And the old JPEG PRINTER DRIVER.

The old JPEG PRINTER DRIVER is great for this too. Yes I know you asked for GIF but IRFANVIEW can handle a conversion from JPEG to GIF so only those that DEMAND it be done in one single pass would be upset.

I've never seen a pdf file which didn't consist of pages. So it's unclear what you mean with "one image or file". Also it's unclear how you converted your Excel-file to pdf. Finally, it's unclear what the size (rows and columns) of that Excel worksheet was.
But say it was 1000 lines and 7 columns. That would result in a gif-image of, say, 5 meter high (5 mm a line). That's what you want? Can you tell why you want it?

More detail on xle to gif
Aug 30, 2013 6:50AM PDT

I am creating a pdf file via Excel when I save it from Excel as a pdf file.

It is a small or large spreadsheet of members that is a 1000 rows long and 7 to 10 columns wide that needs to be converted into an image file so I can input into a web site. It's not very practical or maybe not possible to download 10 pages to the same page on the web site. So I need one large image. GIF or jpf doesn't matter, except in my recent experiments gif gives a sharper image on the web site.

I have attempted 'no page' breaks in Excel to no avail. There are a multitude number of sites that will do the conversion and one did it as a single file but the resolution was so poor that it wasn't usable.

I'll look at some of the other suggestions tomorrow.

Thanks,

Tom

Re: Excel on a website.

If I want to publish the contents of an Excel spreadsheet on a website (I do each week) I run an Excel macro to generate the html for the website. I found it 10 years ago on http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/xl2html.htm and changed the code a little bit to my needs for styling.

If I google EXCEL TO HTML CONVERTER google finds a load of alternatives. One of them might suit you.

Seems much easier than an image.
