Question

how do i connect my Panasonic TV to the internet

Apr 3, 2015 11:08PM PDT

I am trying to connect TX L37 Viera to the internet via a wired/wireless netgear router. I have set up the parameters on the tv and the router handshakes (port fit activates on the router ie DNS set to Auto on the tv) but my question what is the next step please

From your description it seems you are connected.

The user manual (I downloaded it, but you might hve it on paper) makes me think that it can be used for 2 purposes: (1) interactive program guide (GUIDE+), if you wish so enriched with advertisements based on the postal code you entered, and (2) updating the firmware of the TV if a new version is present. It's all described quite clearly in the manual. What specific questions do you have?

re connection to internet

thanks Kees for your response; the only thing to be done is connect the PC to the vga skt at the rear of the tv set unfortunately I have a Toshiba laptop that does not have a HDMI output. I am trying to do this in stages. The other question is do I select TV on the tv buttons on the right hand side or do I select PC button. I am new to this but know by setting the IP address to auto I do not need to config anything else. The other question is do I need a dongle for the TV to wi fi or has the laptop to be physically connected all the time. I apologise if I am asking questions that are too basic kind regards john

To use the TV as a VGA monitor use a VGA-cable between your laptop and the TV, just like you use a VGA-cable between your laptop and an external monitor. Then you have to tell the laptop if you want to use that extermal monitor as a mirror, or as an extented screen. On the TV you have to use "PC" as source. That's all, no need for WiFi or anything like network or router or IP-address.
