If you want to check the memory, there is the manual way. Take off the cover, if you have more than one memory stick, use only one at a time in the first slot and boot. If you don't get the error with one but with the other, you know one is bad. However, it could mean the other isn't far behind.
Note: if you don't know the ins and outs of digging in, suggested to first ask or to have someone do so.

hi,
when ever my pc crashes and get the blue screen of death, i get a message like 0X0000008E or something to that effect or it brings up that i have faulty memory modules.
is there software or a particular piece of hardware that can check the memory modules? did this make any sense?
