How do I check the firmware version on my TV

by c_fan359 / July 3, 2010 12:15 AM PDT

Hello,

I am sorry if I am asking a stupid question but I went through all the menus on a UE32B7000 and a UE46C7000. On neither TV was I able to find what current version of the firmware I have, so that I could upgrade it, if necessary.

I can go to software upgrade and both TVs start automatically checking via cable whether there is an upgrade (both said that they were up-to-date).

Thanks for your help!

On my C8000 it tells me the current firmware version on the same page that gives me the option to check online for the firmware update or use the USB.

Personally I don't trust what it tells me is available via its online option, because it says no firmware update is available for my set, but when I check samsungs website under my model...there was a new one.

You can always download what is current from the website and put it on a usb stick and try to update it that way. If its the same or lower version it will tell you that and won't update, but at least you will know and it takes about 5 minutes to try.

Steve,

Thnaks for the reply. This is what I needed to find out. When it comes to updating my BD Player, it went smoothly through my Internet connection. However, two TVs - UE46C7000 and UE32B7000 respond that no software upgrade is available. Apparently, there is a glitch in the automatic upgrade function that Samsung needs to look into.

Your information about the system recognizing whether the current software is older than the one on a USB stick and acting on it was very helpful. Thanks again!
