Do you have a separate iTunes account from your husband? I suspect that if you are using the same account it may be creating the issue.

From Salon.com forum
http://techtips.salon.com/change-phone-name-iphone-settings-3630.html

Step 1
Connect one end of your iPhone cable to the iPhone's bottom dock connector, and attach the other end to an available USB port on your computer.

Step 2
Open iTunes.

Step 3
Double-click your iPhone from the list of "Devices" on the left-hand panel. This highlights the iPhone's name.

Step 4
Type a new name for your iPhone and press "Enter."

Step 5
Click the lower-right "Sync" button to assign the name change.

iTunes

1. Open iTunes on your computer.
2. Plug your iPhone into your computer. Once the iPhone syncs with iTunes, your iPhone will be listed on the far left side of iTunes.
3. Click on the iPhone listed in iTunes. After a few seconds, the iPhone's main summary screen will appear in the middle of iTunes.
4. Repeat step 3 (click the iPhone listed in iTunes). When you do this, the name of the iPhone will be highlighted.
5. Enter a new name for the iPhone. Then, either click anywhere else in iTunes, or press Enter in order to change the name of the iPhone.
