How did i split my hard drive

by alsaxon / March 27, 2007 2:42 AM PDT

I restored my Gateway laptop and now there are two hard drives: Local drive C and Data Drive D. I never noticed that before. It is causing programs because as I am reinstalling my programs it is saying that there is no disk space available on drive d. Why is drive d there anyway. Did i accidently create a partition when I restored. How can I make everything default to drive C.

Also when I restart my computer, as it comes up the black screen comes up asking me what operating system I want. There are two choices both are Windows XP Home. This did not come up before either.

Please help.

Thanks!

I used the operating system cd
by alsaxon / March 27, 2007 9:26 AM PDT

which I assumed was the recovery cd. Am I wrong? I don't have a recovery cd, but everything seemed to have restored to default after i did this except for the wierd start up that I have told you about and the split drives.

i just put the operating system cd in in booted the pc from the disc and followed the prompts. Did I do something wrong/

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
