If you get a virus or worm via Kazaa maybe but the key damage would be to you personally (legally) if the RIA cracked down on you (Recording institute of America).

There have been people slammed already so it is a game of russian roulette to see if you will be signaled out.

Just like if you drive extreme speeds in your car. It can be exhilarating but if caught you have a major violation on your record (does not drop off in 3 years like a 70mph speed violation would).

While the Chernobyl virus taught us that a virus can inflict damage that some can't fix except to replace the motherboard, Kazaa is well known to install spyware that can leak your financial data and more.

It's just bad stuff. It's often called the "crack cocaine" of software. Some have a hard time kicking the habit until they have to reload the OS a few times and figure out what caused it.

Kazaa of itself won't cause damage. It allows a portal in order for other s/w(pgms) that get into your system to access data you didn't want accessed or release malware those whole intent is to make your life miserable. But physical damage, no, yes to anything to a system not as its suppose to be w/o it. Live and learn -----Willy

You should be asking this in the Security Forum.

Bottom line is this.

NO PARASITES ALLOWED. If you don't believe me, I'll wait a little longer.

That's what the Security Forum is about.

This forum is about notebooks. Your question was about Kazaa which deserves a response in any forum, but you've progressed to the point you need to get in the right forum.

May I recommend AresLite...it's runs on a next gen p2p network, and is a kazaa clone, so it's very familar to the lay-person.

During install just deselect the one spyware option, and nothing bad will be installed on your computer.

If you insist on using Kazaa, try Kazaa-Lite.

Kazaa destroys everything it touches. The bundled software is horrendous. Even if you buy the ad-free version everything you download seems to be virus infected. I suggest giving Limewire a try. Of course there is a little less to download but it doesnt have any adware and I havent picked up a virus yet. Make sure you forward the ports on your firewall though or you won't be able to download much.
