How connect SONY HT CT320 to a Samsung UN55H7150AF>

Feb 3, 2015 12:38AM PST

My wife got me a SONY sound bar for my birthday, but I am having trouble. Don't know whether (and why) to use Optical or HDMI or both.SONY is unclear since they keep talking about the wonderful things I can do like control other boxes or connect my phone. Each seems to want a different config. What is the plain vanilla way to do this so I can use my cable box, Samsung apps etc. I also want to minimize the number of remotes we have to deal with.

I assume that life would be simpler with a Samsung sound bar. What communication, control or special features do I get if I do that? What difficulties / awkwardness would I open myself up to?

This was a gift and I don't want to second guess her or be rude about it, So I'd rather not exchange it without a really good reason. (not working is a really good reason)

I'm going with no right way.

I would have to test each setup to see what works for me. For some reason mixing makes and models can result in ARC or CEC failing so the search for less remotes fails. For me I like a single control so try the HDMI ARC port to the sound bar first. You might get lucky.

Hello Ms53726,

If you're wanting to use your Samsung remote with the sound bar I would suggest using HDMI. By connect that into the HDMI/ARC port on the television and the HDMI Out on your sound bar, they should link up with Anynet+, which is a CEC feature. As long as your sound bar supports CEC it should work with the Samsung remote. However, we can't guarantee for it to work, because of it being a different brand name, but most of the time it usually will.

Also, here's an article that might be of some assistance when it comes to setting up a sound bar with your unit, http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber/popup/iframe/pop_troubleshooting_fr.jsp?idx=154744&modelname=UN55F7100AF&modelcode=UN55F7100AFXZA

I hope this helps!
