How computer responds when left on

Mar 12, 2005 11:24AM PST

I decided to leave my computer on instead of turning it off and on. I have a Pavilion 2. When I turn it off, after an hour the blue light on the drive flashes and the blue light on the monitor turns white. I don't know step I should be taking at this point. I pressed the button on the monitor and it went off. The blue light on the box kept flashing. I then pressed the button on the monitor and it came on. Help!! I don't want to mess up my computer. Thanks in advance

Check your power management

settings in the BIOS and also on the bottom of the screen saver box.

You may not be turning the system off. You may be putting it into standby, and then some action is turning the system on.

In the BIOS set Power Mgt to "User defie" and then DO NOT ENABLE any of the options. These options are those that allow other events to wake up a sleeping system.

Energy Star
Mar 13, 2005 10:17AM PST

Hi, I went into Power Options. The Power Scheme is set as Energy Star. System Standby is set at 15 mins. If I set it to 2 hours or more, won't that solve my problem? I plan to turn computer off when I leave the house. I am on and off the computer when I am at home.
