Question

How come Samsung Galaxy is showing SD card if there is none?

Apr 29, 2018 1:54AM PDT

In file manager it is showing Internal SD card.
I did not add any SD card in my phone.

I am curious: do all or most mobile phone have SD card integrated as
a disk?
If mobile phone stops working, is it possible to save the data from that integrated SD card?

In short

That's what many Samsungs do. The card is as you guessed integrated into the Samsung phone. For now this is a Samsung thing. I haven't encountered it on any other phone.

so if my SAMSUNG Galaxy phone gets damaged, this integrated MICRO SD card could be taken out and I might be able to save my data?

Is it tough to get to this card inside phone?

Also the short answer.

No. This is just some memory in a chip on the circuit board of the phone.

All the moderators here say "We only lose what we don't backup."

If you don't backup your stuff, it wasn't something you felt needed saving. At this point some folk lose their minds but for now, for today this is the state of things.

BACKUP

Could some experts save data from memory from the chip on the circuit board of the phone?
Is it very compllcated?

So I better get a phone with SD card slot?
The thing is that right now, I have my own micro SD card in, but
my app for backups (BACKUP MY MOBILE) does not accept the folder on it. I haven't put anything else on the card, so it's empty and I am wondering if I even need it.
So far I haven't found any better app that would backup everything I need (SMS, LOG, CONTACTS, etc).
Do you maybe know of a good backup app that would backup everything automatically on an SD card maybe once a week? I don't want to put the data online on some cloud.

I am looking at these newer phones and many of them do not have MICRO SD CARD slot, that's why I would like to get some info about these things Happy

Yes, some expert could.

But such are rare and expensive. Why? Because it involves removing the chip and soldering it to a breakout circuit, reading the data and then decoding what is there. Something on the order of a many tens of thousands of dollar work. This is why no one does this today except in government agencies.

As to getting one with a SD slot that won't help. Why? Because the owner might again fail to backup and the phone be lost, stolen or damaged to where the memory card is gone.

Also, new phones encrypt the data on the card meaning you can't slip it into another phone and get at the data.

-> I could be wrong here but are you trying to avoid backup? As to you wanting to backup everything, that question has been asked before so I didn't touch it. You can use google to find backup programs, sync apps and more. For me to duplicate that is well, duplicating effort. I want to give you the information that is a little harder to find.
