How can you tell if you have a refurbished phone?

Feb 16, 2006 8:57PM PST

I have a Moto V557 and am supposed to receive another phone since this one is defective. I was told there is no guarantee that I will get a new phone or a refurbished one. I understand there is a way to tell if the phone is new or not...does anyone know what to look for?

Thanks!

another sign

If the phone has any scratches on it, that's a sign it's refurbished. Also if the battery is also the cover for the back of the phone, like Samsung phones are, and no battery there, it's definitely refurbished. I know this from first hand experience because I had to replace my Samsung a650 last year, and got a refurbished a650 on the spot at Verizon Wireless (corporate store).

No way to tell for sure...

One hidden thing is to make sure the battery holds a full charge.

Other than that, if you can't tell, then it really doesn't matter, does it?
