how can you stop smart phones scanning your fingerprints

May 9, 2017 9:19AM PDT

i am due a upgrade i Am thinking of getting the huawei p10 but i am put off getting a new phone because of the finger print scanners that are featured on nearly all smartphones now.i know theres probably a setting on the phone where you can turn it off but i dont trust that it will be completly disabled.is there a way of completely disabling the fingerprint scanner or a easy way to cover it so it doesnt work

Never an issue here.

I never opted into the feature and let's say I wanted to be sure? Tape over the scanner.

I had a chat with someone concerned about this over lunch. He was not happy about this but then I pointed out that he just left the lunch table covered with his fingerprints. In jest I suggested he wear gloves everywhere from now on.

Some way I have found:-
Access the ‘Safe’, that is, photos, audio, video and other files that you want to keep away from prying eyes: go to Settings > Fingerprint ID > Access safe and if you haven’t done so yet, click on Activate and select ‘SD card / internal memory’. After this, you’ll have to put in a password, confirm it and click ‘Done’. Determine a security question, which can come in very useful if you forget your password, and once more, click on ‘Done’. To save private files in your safe you’ll have to click on Settings > Security and privacy > Safe files. After you've used your fingerprint to unlock, select ‘Add’. At this point, all you need to do is manually choose which data you want to protect.

Access locked apps:-
First, you’ll have to configure the lock in ‘File management.'

The above says in file management you have to do it, So I think you can just check there and delete the data from theirs.
