how can I watch and edit hdv on my computer

I bought the Canon HV 10 and the video looks amazing on my HD TV. But I dont know what software to use to edit and view my videos on my computer. Any suggestions????

video editors can handle HDV... You need to connect your camera (using the DV port) to your computer's FireWire port with a FireWire cable.

You may need to buy a FireWire cable - and you may need to add a FireWire port to you computer (Macs have had FireWire ports for years; Windows machines do not commonly have a FireWire port).

Your camera's operating manual discusses connecting to a computer starting on Page 64. If you don't have the manual, download it at canon.com http://alpha02u.c-wss.com/inc/ApplServlet?SV=WWUCA900

Software:
Macintosh: iMovie HD 5 and newer; FinalCut 5 and newer
Windows: Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, others...

Clarification to the Manual

DV port on the camera is a FireWire port.
DV, IEEE1394, FireWire and iLink are all the same thing - FireWire.

FireWire is NOT USB. They are different ports/cables/protocols.
