Question

How can I upgrade osx mountain lion to legal version from pi

Apr 30, 2013 11:16AM PDT

I recently downloaded the pirate version of osx mountain lion on my mac book pro. There is nothing wrong with it but my school is giving the upgrade for the legal version for free. I don't know if there is a difference I can still update mountain lion but I don't know if in the future I will be able to upgrade to new osx upgrades.

I have a upgrade install on a cd
May 1, 2013 3:28AM PDT

I had lion running before it was the latest version. Today I got a cd with mountain lion on it. I was debating on doing a clean install but i don't know where to backup my laptop. I might just keep the cd and if something goes wrong then i can install it as clean and use it like a OEM disk. I can't install it now with 10.8 running because it could corrupt and crash the laptop. Any ideas on what to do with these.

So what was the version before it was the latest version?

you would back up your laptop to your Time Machine disk, you do have a Time Machine disk?

If not, then go out and get yourself and external HD of at least 1TB capacity.

When you go to "About this Mac" what version of Mountain Lion does it say you have?

Why did you feel inclined to steal Mountain Lion in the first place? It costs less than $30

Mountain lion 10.8.3

I'm planing on getting a external soon. I pirated it because my friends did it and the did it for me so I felt why pay $30 when get it for free. I now realize how it is wrong and the version I got is safe. I scanned it and its safe. It still allows updates. I also found out how to do a clean install with the disk given to me. I'm not going to get rid of it and do a clean install if there is nothing wrong. My school provides the upgrades for free I did not know that until today when they gave us the disk. Next time I will download the legal version. Thank you for your feedback

with the Time Machine purchase, Seagate make a decent series of externals that will work for you. You do not have to get one that is specifically for Mac, any one will do.
