My old Core2Duo 4GB RAM laptop did 1080p just fine to a HDTV so your laptop is steps above my old laptop.
I can't guess what you feel is substandard on the editing. Video editing, and now HD Video editing is a lot of work. Some new to this will feel it's slow. It really isn't. My first laptop video editor would take 6 hours to render a video that would later be burned to a Video DVD. Today my outdated Dell with a first gen i5 does that in 20 minutes.
That said, try a 500 to 1000 GB SSD.
hello, i own a Toshiba satellite L50-20BR PSKTNA-02R016 it has a Intel® Core™ i5 Processor 5200U (1.6GHz - 2.6GHz (Turbo, 2 Cores) 1600MHz FSB, 256 KB per core L2 cache, 3MB L3 cache).
