half answered yes. When I install the windows mobile device center, at the last second of installation I get a message stated "can not recognogize the usb connection". When I look on the desktop under devices I see my axim pda connected. i have spent 4hours with microsoft only for them to boot me to 8 different people to give me no answer. I went on the microsoft blog for this and the problem has been recurrent. In terms of the WMDC, I was informed that if you have a network system, ie printer network connection, you have the WMDC. I do not see the WMDC on the list of programs.I never had any problems with VISTA or XP for the mobile center or Active Sync. You are correct sync is a bad word.
I hope I clarified the answersHappy

Let me share a little something.

When I install WMDC I -> NEVER <- have any of my WM devices plugged in. I make no apology for how MSFT may or may not handle that situation.

I'm just an author of some Apps for WM (and other things) so this month as I work over a few apps I get to work with WMDC again.

There could be other issues but I only have what's in this post to work with. As to ActiveSync, I've had issues there too.
