Good day,
I have a Sony Vaio TX5MN with 1GB of RAM, a 70GB hard drive and U1400 Centrino CPU (1.2GHz). It came pre-installed with Windows Vista Business (32 bit) and I installed Service Pack 1 just today (30/09/0
after checking several reviews and deciding that it was ok to install it.
4 months ago, I noticed that the laptop was really slow so I restored the laptop to it's factory state and everything was ok for about a month. Then the performance started deteriorating again.
2 days ago, it started really messing up. It took 7 minutes to start up, 5 minutes to shut down and nearly 4 minutes to hibernate.
I have spent all my waking moments since then running spy-ware scans, anti-virus scans, memory diagnostics and hard disk diagnostics all of which came up clean. I also did a disk check which repaired some bad clusters but the situation is still the same. Even after giving it 10 minutes to boot, the minute I click anything, it freezes up and only unfreezes after a further 2 minutes. Right-clicking anything produces the same result and opening Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer means having to do a hard shut down. The only way I can use it without raising my blood pressure is in Safe Mode. I'm really at my wits' end, it has never been as bad as this. Some websites say extra RAM will help, do you agree? Please assist.
Thank you.
