How can i revert my Laptop to original settings?

Dec 14, 2011 4:27PM PST

My laptop is a dell Inspiron | 6400
I pretty much just want to wipe my laptop clean so that it is like when it came out of the box. I have saved all files i want to keep.
Is there any way i can do this?

DON"T! do anything until you know you have access to restore/recovery discs or hidden HD partition. As the other posters suggested, visit Dell support, enter your service tag# or S/N# and goto your model# info and support. Once there, understand what it takes to return to day-1 factory install. If you don't have the recovery discs. most OEM's provide a vendor creation process to make those discs. Once all is done and/or you've verified you a hidden recovery partition, then start the recovery process. However, i strongly urge you have or make those restore/recovery discs.
