How can i put an end to websites installing unwanted things on my PC

i want to prevent sites from installing unwanted programs/dialers/bullcr@p. I have anti-virus, hijack this, and adaware. So what can i do?

Most of these exploit Internet Explorer or Java. Try another browser, remove Java and disable Javascript if you can.

I agree this is the best that there is. And it works great!! Just make sure that you don't delete programs that you like to use (exp..Download Accerator) or they will not work.

The only real cure is to stop using Internet Explorer for anything but Windows Update. Download a copy of Mozilla
( http://www.mozilla.org ) or it's cousin Firefox and use those for all your browsing needs.

You'd also be wise to adopt Mozilla (or its other cousin Thunderbird) as your mail client as well. It's not that hard to use Outlook Express to do the same crap that is done via IE, since Outlook Express uses IE to display all messages creating cross program vulnerabilities.
