I have to defer to them. There are things that can block this or cause it to fail.
1. The router firewall blocks this. Very common issue too. Confounds folk new to networking. That new shine wears off in time.
2. The target machine does NOT have to answer pings. Another new networker thing.
But for Microtik support I have to defer to them as I don't use their products.
am still new to networking but managed to configure a mikrotik RB1100AHx2 router to supply internet to our LAN. There is a 24 port switch that some devices are connected to via LAN cables, while others connect via wifi which is produced by 2 access points connected to the switch via LAN also. And this switch is connected to the mikrotik switch. There is internet in the network but the challenge i have is that I can't ping another computer on the same subnet, I believe its due to the mikrotik configuration but i don't know how to fix this. please how can i achieve this. Thanks.
