Using MS Exchange ...

or one of the (open source) equivalents you can have a company-wide address book on your server.

Here's open exchange: http://www.open-xchange.com/
However, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-Xchange you need a 'commercial add-on' to connect to Outlook.

You'll be able to find other Exchange alternatives. I just don't have them at hand.
On the other hand, licenses for MS Exchange aren't VERY expensive.

Sorry, I don't know mdeamon. But at www.altn.com I see:

- eLearning
- Guides and Manuals
- Literature
- FAQ
- Knowledgebase
- Community forums
- Telephone support
- Email support

I would be amazed if you wouldn't be able to find an answer using these 8 sources.
