How can I make a default setting work for sizing windows?

by alanrich / May 1, 2004 2:16 PM PDT

How do I open up the solitaire game with a default window setting to maximum? No matter what I do it doesn?t seem to retain even the same window size or position on the monitor. I?m running WinXP and open it from a desktop icon I?ve created. I hope that whatever solution is offered that I can apply it to other windows as a default setting. Thanks. Alan.

If the desktop icon you created is a "Shortcut" icon (which is usually - but not always - indicated by an arrow in the lowerleft side of the icon), then do a "Properties" of the icon by right-clicking over it and select "Properties"

There you will see a Field called "Run" with 3 selections:
Normal window,

"Maximized" is the setting you want.

I just tried it myself, I made two shortcut icons to the Windows Solitare game on my desktop. I set one with a Run:Normal window, and the other to Run:Maximized

Double-clicking on either, got the expected result.

While you can look at the shortcut that launches the program and see if it has a tab/setting for min/max/windows default, there is nothing that dictates the program must obey this.
