What software are you trying to install, and how are you trying to install it?
You should usually install software on Ubuntu using Ubuntu Software Center or apt-get. If the software you want is not in Ubuntu Software Center, you can usually find a repository/ppa that contains the software. You add the repository or PPA to your system and Ubuntu Software Center will then be able to install and keep updated the software you want.
Whenever I am going to install any additional software it shows me a snippets view and the ultimate programming.
