Since you have a receiver I have to guess the setup. Most are done like this:
ALL AudioVideo (AV) sources go to the receiver for audio processing and then one lone HDMI cable from the receiver output to the HDTV HDMI input port. Any other setup and I see how this will fail and no one might be able to fix it.
I have a Yamaha AV receiver model TSR-7810. I have a Samsung HD TV. My program sources are a Sony Blu-Ray player, a Sony PS3, an Amazon Fire TV Stick, and cable TV (Centurylink Prism). All are connected using HDMI. The Receiver is connected to the TV with an HDMI cable.
All of my sources display the volume level on the TV when I adjust the volume of the receiver EXCEPT for the cable source. I have tried everything I can think of to get it to work (eg. switching inputs, changing the connecting cable and every setting available to me on both the receiver and the TV) but it still doesn't display on the TV.
I have contacted and spoke with "technicians" from both Yamaha and Centurylink several times but they have not been able to correct the problem.
I would greatly appreciate any help regarding this matter.
