Question

How Can I get my e-mails back from Live Mail?

Nov 29, 2012 9:42PM PST

Windows 7 - never use LM -my e-mail is att powered by Yahoo. Rarely use IE (9) except for microsoft updates and FB (my Firefox gives me trouble on that site and I gave up trying to fix it. I must have made a huge mistake yesterday - was on FB and tried to e-mail something on there.Without warning WL appeared and started gobbling up 13 months of my normal e-mails which I could see it doing - before I could close it down. How can I get them back? Can I get them back? I see several edb.logs from after the "incident" in the WL folder - all the same size but they are mostly gibberish when opened in Notepad. Once (or if) I get them back I intend to uninstall WL totally.

Assuming that your e-mail account is of the pop3-type, so your mails are downloaded to your PC and removed from the server, it seems they disappeared. Or does it use imap?
But since we can't look what's on your hard disk, it's not 100% sure.

Now we have the old saying here "You only lose what you didn't backup". So not having a backup seems to mean that you didn't mind losing it. Too late now to do it, I'm afraid, if you happened to come to the conclusion you actually do mind.

I back up my computer every couple of days - if the mail still were on my computer that wouldn't have been a problem - it is att.netmail and comes via Yahoo so it is on the server and only "there" when I open up my mail. That is why I am so upset because it isn't "really" on my computer.
