Question

How can I get better screen resolution?

Aug 8, 2011 2:57AM PDT

I have a laptop that I plug into a monitor at my work. Sometimes when I plug it in at first I get a great 1600 x 1200 screen resolution but then after a while the screen goes black and reverts to a lower one. When I go back into the setttings the higher resolution isnt available. I assume my laptop can handle the higher res since it sometimes does work. Where can I download a driver or something to get that 1600 x 1200 all the time. By the way the monitor is a 23 inch.

please help!

Is this a work laptop? - meaning was it given to you by the company you work for
or is it your own personal laptop you bought?

Do you log into it with a local computer account or with your work domain account?

If you use a domain account there might be a group policy limiting the resolution and graphics settings you are allowed to use.

Answer
1600x1200??????

Hi ... i think you are setting a wrong resolution....

If u have a 23.6 inch Monitor at work then its probably a wide screen monitor, right?

If it is wide then 1600x1200 resolution can not be shown by that monitor because this resolution is 4:3 ratio and its meant for square type monitors , your monitor is a 16:9 or 16:10 ratio and best resolution for it is 1680x1050... try that one...

Hope this helps
