Question

How can I get a High-End Computer with No Credit?

Mar 4, 2018 10:41PM PST

To preface this, please understand my computer is quite literally my entire life. I spend more time online than I do sleeping. I understand it's not healthy, but it is the most important non-living thing in my life, and I am not looking to change. Furthermore, nearly any job options available to me are online, the majority of which requiring a good computer. I know it's not a good idea, financially, either. I don't care about that. I only need to know how/if it is possible.

I live off of disability, $750 a month. I have unpaid medical debt from my childhood that has left me with a credit score of under 550. I previously owned an MSI laptop. I need at least $500 to cover all my bases, but the more I can save every month, the better. Be it lease, moneylenders, whatever, what options do I have to get a High-End computer? I am willing to spend years paying it off if need-be, or really, doing anything, so long as I have a little monthly spending money and all my needs are met. I'd be fine if I had to pay 10x the amount, if the monthly payments were small enough.

Clarification Request
I understand common methods, and I know it's a bad decision
Mar 6, 2018 5:47PM PST

I am not stupid. I know the traditional methods of gathering money, and I know this is a terrible financial decision that, in itself, is stupid. I don't care.

To clarify, when I say 'No Credit' I meant 'Bad Credit Score'. As in, a score traditional/Mainstream lenders wouldn't touch.

If saving money, month after month, were as simple as that, I wouldn't be making this post. A low end computer will be useless to me, because it can't do anything I need it or want it to do. A medium-spec computer is a compromise I am willing to make, if I have no other option.

With all respect to anyone trying to help, I just want to know if it is possible for me to obtain a high-end computer, and how. I need an organization, person, or storefront that would allow me an extended lease or loan with low monthly payments, or just some method with the result of me having the computer in my use and possession, with low method payments. Price, in the end, is irrelevant.

I don't know of such a place

Most, including places like Aaron's rentals or Rent A Center will want $100 or more per month payments on a high end computer. RAC however doesn't do credit check.

I don't think you need a high-end computer. A low-end or medium-end should be fine. Then go second-hand or refurbished. Or try freecycle.org.

All Your Methods Still Involve Someone Selling It On Credit
Mar 5, 2018 6:29PM PST

Your terms "moneylenders", "I am willing to spend years paying it off", "Monthly payments" are all about someone extending credit to you.

To answer your original question: "How can I get a High-End Computer with No Credit?"., there are only a couple of ways:

1. Save your money, a little each month, till you have enough cash, then buy or lease the computer of your choice with cash. I have purchased all my personal computers with cash by taking the steps I mentioned in the previous sentence. It saves you money by not having to pay interest and generates great decision making on how fancy/expensive your computer really needs to be. In fact, although I use credit cards to make some purchases, (I actually make money using them), I have never paid interest on the balance. Not once in my life. Believe it or not, its true. I save the cash before making the purchase and pay off the balance when the bill comes.

2.. Get one free in a variety of ways included the one mentioned by Kees in his post. Ask for a gift, borrow one from a friend temporarily, etc.

Hope this helps.

why High End Computer?

If all you do is internet, online, then even an older 2 core processor with 4GB RAM is more than enough for that. I'm typing this from a Linux Mint computer using a 3Ghz, single core Sempron processor, and have little problem with internet use, although some 1080p youtube videos require my other 10 yr old computer with a 4 core AMD phenom, as does TV stations online. I run free Linux Mint on it too.

Re: Why High End Computer

Because I need something that can run the latest software for projects, and gaming is a huge stress-relief for me. I essentially live on my computer.I just don't have enough money to do other things for entertainment, and the only work I can really do is online, the vast majority of which needs a mid-to-top tier computer to manage.

Maybe better be specific.
- What work do you do online? "Projects" doesn't say anything. Online "gaming" in a browser usually is basic, but MMPORG games aren't.
- What programs do you use for it?

Even a low-end computer can do everything (apart from games that need a video card), it's just slower than on a high-end computer. And for you money might be more important than speed.
And , of course, with online, the main cause of slowness is your Internet connection, not your PC (unless it's a graphically intensive game).
