Question

How can I fix my sound problen?

Jan 29, 2015 5:19AM PST

I have a Compaq SR1061NX. Ever since I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 my sound is broken up on video's and when I try to talk on skype my voice is in and out.I thought my sound board was not compatible, but I can't change it because my sound board is part of the mother board. I did all the sound checks and all test normal. I checked for driver updates and none available. I don't get any error flags.
Can someone help me?

I'd buy a new sound card, either inside the case or as a USB-stick/dongle. For less than USD 10 your issue might be solved.

Answer
find the XP sound drivers

for your motherboard or that came with your system. Run the install file in "compatibility mode" in W7. You can usually find this by right clicking on the install file and choosing it. This may bypass any difficulties in getting it installed correctly, it will tell W7 to run the sound as if it was XP instead.

I guess im not that computer savvy. I don't understand compatibility mode or W7
Could you explain how to do this?

I'd check that model number first.

Otherwise it's a guess what audio driver or other drivers are required.
