There are too many reasons WiFi can be unstable so without a doubt the fix is to get wired. If you can't run wires, use powerline networking.

Hi all
I have the Xfinity X1 3 in 1 platform. I work out of my house and connect to my office via both an internal and external VPN. During the day I can see the wireless icon on my laptop shift from "Excellent" to "No connection" to "low connection" back to Excellent. Unfortunately when this happens my VPN is disconnected and my productivity reduces drastically. Further, when I use the phone associated with this modem, the voice connection is terrible (heavy static) and/or the wireless connection is terminated until I end my call.
Comcast (No surprise here) has been absolutely unhelpful. (Reading scripts, suggesting I have too many active devices, and thinking I should just connect through a wired connection)
I recently bought an inexpensive T-link router thinking this would fix the problem; but the connection seems just as unstable.
Any suggestions or ideas on how to stabilize the connection?
Please note: I am computer savvy but not an expert; willing to learn as needed.
Thank you!

- Make sure your router's Firmware is up to date- make sure the driver of the WLAN adapter is up to date
- change the advance settings of the WLAN adapter, like Roaming Agressiveness is set to either Medium or Low, change it to Maximum
- in the router change the wireless channel between 1, 6, 9 and 11
- last but not the least adjust the value of Fragmentation Length and CTS/RTS and try
