Question

How can I disable McAfee Scanner Service?

May 11, 2016 1:12PM PDT

I was just closing some files down and I decided to do a 'clean up' of my system. I opened task manager and see that McAfee Scanner Service is taking up 113MB of my RAM. I don't ever use McAfee since i recently installed AVG antivirus as I prefer the layout. I just need to know; Is there a way I can disable McAfee's services? Should I just delete it whole? If so, tell me how please!
I'm on windows 10 and I have 4GB RAM, every MB matters to me!
Below is an image of my Task manager. Any help is greatly appreciated!

MS add/delete files

provided that McAfee scanner is the only product, use the MS add/delete files/apps section. Take that action and do just like any other de-install. McAfee may also have the de-install action within its file folder, you can check that as well. It maybe better to boot into safemode, hit F8 during to get into it or repeat if you fail, it can trying at times.

Did you pay for Mc Afee?
May 12, 2016 4:31AM PDT

Typically when you purchase one of the major Virus protection software packages you get the real time protection. Which means it stops the virus from being installed on your PC. A scan is what removes the virus after it's installed. Now if you paid for McAfee I would check to make sure you have real time protection with AVG. But it's never a good thig to have 2 virus softwares running on the same computer. So if you decide you want to get rid of Mc Afee do it under Control Panel Program and Features to remove program and remove the one you don't want.
