How can I detect keylogging spyware?

Dec 17, 2005 5:33AM PST

Is this something that any good spyware detector should find or is there a particular product that would work the best?

You need multiple programs for

spyware/keyloggers/trojans/etc. We recommend Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware SE, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard, and depending on your operating system Microsoft AntiSpyware. I also have other programs myself for trojans and other specific threats. There is NO one program that will get it all.

Since keylogging can be a rootkit.

I'd look at a ROOTKIT DETECTOR and if you have XP, try EWIDO as well.

With all that's listed in your replies, you should find it if it's there.

Hi Jack,

One of the more highly rated Scanners of this type in my mind is Spysweeper (It's not FREE though). You can try it free I believe at http://www.webroot.com/consumer/downloads/ it does the job believe me

Hope that helps,

Steve

Trend Micro's Free Spyware Scanner
Dec 18, 2005 4:56PM PST

Has lots of definitions and detects things everything else misses. It has caught a couple of keyloggers on my system in the past-- and I scan almost daily with the recommeneded array (plus Spyware Doctor).

Trend still occasionally picks up things the others miss-- and you can't beat the price. The link is:
