You can't uninstall it. But you're not required to use it. It's just one of those Windows programs that sits on the hard disk and you (and I) never use and never see. Since my hard disk is big enough, I don't care. Why do you mind?

Because...

I don't want it sitting on my hard disk. I like to control what is on my computer. This behavior, downloading something you don't want and not letting you delete it, is the behavior of malware. Why are more people not concerned that Microsoft can do whatever it wants? You just wrote that I can't uninstall it, and that doesn't concern you? What's next?

You can use OSes that don't do this. Internet Explorer resulted in many court cases and even with its removal the debate raged on that it was still there. It was part of the OS. Edge may not be part of the OS but IE is.

Folk that demand this be gone, have to move to another OS. No one forces you to use Edge, or Windows.

And for heaven's sakes, people, never use a how-to forum to complain about "features" that monopolies choose to shove down your throat without full disclosure, and won't refund once you break the golden seal on the packaging.

To the complainers, the obvious solution is to just give-up your medical, law, etc. degree, take-out more student loans, go back to school to get software development training, and create your own operating system. "Solved."

Amazing how you ask a simple question and get cross-examined by dudes who don't have a solution, or the thinking skills to appreciate your preferences are better for your circumstances than theirs.

I clicked on this thread for the same reason as you. To get rid of crapware that I neither need or want taking up valuable real estate on my drive that could be better used for applications that I do want. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the non-thinkers shoots back with, "just go buy a flash or external drive." You hit the nail on the head, Ms gets away with loading non-removable junk, while labeling non-Ms software as malware. One-in-the-same, folks.

Ever notice that Ms and manufacturers boast about software storage specs in sales pitches, but seem to forget to disclose how much space is potentially wasted by uninstallable junk that serves no purpose if the user doesn't want it? Funny how the bullet-point packaging fails to disclose important information that might cause the fish to bite at a more appetizing hook.

Internet Explorer 11 is still present in Windows 10 also. With full functionality, except that Tools>Windows Update doesn't work anymore. You have to go to the Settings App for that.

Since the OP hates Windows 10 but loves Windows 8 (see his other posts), he might love Internet Explorer also.

Take a trip to :

C:\Windows\SystemApps\
Take ownership of :

Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe ( or a similar name)
>this allow YOU to do anything on that directory<

Make it READ-Only (triple click the square)
>from now on nobody can write or modify file contents in directory<

Enter the directory.
Find and rename B-#########.exe both these files:

MicrosoftEdge.exe
MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe
>original link to .exe are not modified - just the files don't exist anymore and... <
> ........ ...... ..... ... .. . cannot be re-written by W10 <

Happy

You got an Edge over Microsoft.
