How can I convert .pst file to .csv without Outlook?

Jun 12, 2007 3:41AM PDT

A college student who just graduated is moving from Outlook 2003 Professional to Google's Gmail. They need to convert their .pst file to a .csv file to import their contacts into Gmail. The export translate program in Outlook is not installed and the university did not provide CDs. So they can't just export the .pst file. How can they accomplish this conversion? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This utility seems to cover exporting messages...

...but will it export contacts, which is what I'm really after?

Demo time.

Find a machine you can wipe out and install Outlook from Microsoft in it's demo form. You'll likely get 30 days to export your PST contents.

Sorry, I decline to provide a step by step here since it's widely documented.

Outlook Trial Version does not import/export
Jan 2, 2010 12:23PM PST

FYI: After downloading the trial version of Outlook 2007 in order to convert .pst files to .cvr, I found the import/export option grayed out. It looks as if they are preventing it's use, which kinda makes sense.

OUTLOOK FILES

"kinda makes sense" - Can't agree there. First, ALL Microsoft's mail programme files are tortuous and complicated to use and especially to extact data into otehr files. Secondly, I personally find MS's mail and addressbook formats so iritating that they put me right off using MS Outlook or Express. I now use gmail. User-friendly is NOT a concept that MS aplies to any of this stuff. The easiest prog ever for manipulating addressbooks was Eudora .... an absolute breeze compared to MS.

Be aware the question was about Outlook 2003.

It may be long gone but back then the demo version did more. Even printing!

Alternative.

Find a machine somewhere that has Outlook 2003 installed and bring the .pst-file to it. If you care to come to The Netherlands you may use mine.
