How can I convert .mov to .wmv?

Jul 22, 2006 3:33PM PDT

I have to convert .mov to .wmv for and internet website. I got quick time pro 7 as I was sure I could convert the movie from this application but the strange thing is that it only converts 22sec of the movie - not the whole one - to .wmv. Does anyone know why this is happening?

In addition I tried exporting the movie from Final Cut to a windows media player file - same thing happens - 22 sec of the movie get converted.
Please help anyone?

Thank you
IK

Strange
Jul 23, 2006 3:07AM PDT

I just tried the same with QT Pro and only go 30 seconds worth of conversion. RAM is not the problem and all the settings were default.

This is worth checking into.

Anyone else like to try a conversion?

Try a 2 step conversion.

Some look for 1 step conversions but I've found that many times I'll convert it to .AVI then to the final output. I will not explain or guess why this is so. I hope you are trying VLCPLAYER as well.

Flip4Mac should solve this
Jul 27, 2006 5:43AM PDT

I think you need to buy Flip4Mac Studio. There is a cheaper version (Pro) but I don't think it will let you export the entire QT movie to .wmv, but the Studio version will. This program works hand-in-hand with QT Pro. Here's the link: http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv.htm . Flip4Mac also allows you to listen to streaming audio that might happen to be in .wmv format.

problem

i have a problem - when i try to convert qtime movie to .wmv it goes to 100% and then it shows this message - "inconsistent audio sample rate. the media you are exporting contains audio with multiple sample rates"

i try some experiments with sound channels - make stereo, mono, one channel only, two channels - nothing helps. :/

Audio Problem QT to WMV
Aug 17, 2007 8:21AM PDT

I've had the same problem with converting QT movies, but the QT movies did not originate on a Mac. Anyways, the way I solved it was to download MPEG Streamclip (free), and I used it to open the QT movie and export it again as a new QT movie. But, you will need to purchase the MPEG Streamclip plug-in for Quicktime from the Apple site (I think $19). Then, QT Pro will convert the new QT .mov to .wmv, but the double-whammy is that you will probably need another program to allow QT Pro do the full conversion. I use Flip4Mac Studio, but someone else mentioned another program.

The Reason Why....
Sep 25, 2008 8:05AM PDT

Simple, Apple for WHATEVER reason records their video in Quicktine@ 30fps.
The ONLY Solution i have found IF the purpose is to upload this media to "Youtube" is to encode in DIVX from QT pro. The bad news if you want to render and transition you will have to stay on the "Mac

On the other hand,

apart from having different fingers, if the purpose is to upload to YouTube, then this can be done directly from iMovie if iLife 08 is installed.

Is the software that I use to convert .mov to .wmv

It also converts just about any other format to just about any other format.

You can find details Here and it will be the best $23.32 you'll ever spend.

Let us know how you get on.

This will not work wither EVEN if you custom set to 30 frame. It dopes seem to play Ok in VLC BUT, it really does not.

That's new!

Seems like they have expanded the range of inputs from just DVD types to others, including WMV in version 0.9.3

This version is for Leopard (10.5.x) only

Thanks
