Question

How can I clear my computer disk space?

Oct 20, 2013 4:08PM PDT

My computer system is windows8. When I try to download something or just run some programs, a warning would show up and said that I have low disk space. How can I clear my disk space? Also, I wonder a simple disk defragmentation could be enough. Many thanks.
(Do I need to use a disk cleaner like Colorful Disk Clean? This program looks cheap and useful, or u guys have any other suggestions?)

Can you give some more info:
1. What OS (Windows 8 Pro or RT)?
2. How many disks and how many partitions (drive letters) on those disks? May be only c:, may be more.
3. The size and the percentage free of all partitions. In Computer, do a right click>properties on the drive to determine.

Then do Microsofts disc cleanup, as documented in http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/app_disk_cleanup.mspx?mfr=true and repeat #3.

Low disk space can mean that your disk is full, but also it can mean that you need to adjust your virtual memory settings. That's why I'm asking this.

defrag doesn't free any disc space. So that won't help at all. Don't do that.

Windows 8 your PC is at most 1 year old and it's full already. If you have alot of pictures and videos I would transfer them to either a flash drive or purchase an external hard drive. Pictures and Video files are some of the largest files. I would also clear your browser cache and that will clear out your cache. You should clear out your browser cache once a month or so. One thing if you have this problem now your going to have it for awhile.

Maybe it's an upgrade of a 40 GB Windows XP PC?

But I think it's just an ad for the program he mentions. Did you notice he didn't answer my very reasonable questions about his situation. If he had a real problem, he surely would.

An advice for everyone who reads this thread: don't buy from spammers!
