How Can I Change My CNET Username?

Jul 16, 2010 10:47PM PDT

Hi all,

I've had a look around for such an article, but they're mostly out of date or have not provided exactly how I can go about to change it.

I am going through all my online accounts to change my global username to Caeldom and I would please like to know how that can be done, if it's not too much trouble.

Regards,
Dan

It is possible, but...

It is a problematic procedure under the current forum implementation, one that can cause misattributed posts, login issues, etc. if the change does not propagate fully. That, combined with the potential confusion caused by a username change, makes it a process that is preferred to be avoided whenever possible. Lee may approve the request, but it's good to be aware of the issues involved.

John

Thanks for the replies. Arturo, the link you gave me doesn't seem get me anywhere, just here http://ivijay.blogspot.com/2007/05/me-and-my-roomies.html which results in a 404 error.

It's just that username will become obsolete for me, it has too many numbers and mixed caps, which have confused people and even myself at times. So I've made a permanent decision to use Caeldom for absolutely everything.

I will try submitting a ticket to the Help Center though.

Regards,
Dan

The best answer on the site I could find out was in the FAQ's:
http://cnet.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1212#MEMBERSHIP
As it states:
"CANCEL ME: If you would like us to cancel your free CNET membership, we will be happy to do so for you. Just click on the E-mail Support Tab above and let us know. If you just want to stop your CNET e-mails and keep your other free benefits, just let us know and we'll help you out."

Sorry, your answer would be irrelevant to the question I posted originally. Regardless, the issue has been resolved quite some time ago and no longer needs further input. Thanks!
