with no certainty of success.
I know nothing about this so when I searched Google with the term " How to increase volume on a video recording " I found a few hits, and this one seemed interesting;

But it does seem technical and I don't think the poster there found a complete answer.
Good luck.
Have you thought about sub-titles? That's a UK term for what I believe US people call CC or Closed Captions.

For school I had to interview a World War 2 Vet, it was my first time doing anything like it so I overlooked the recording process somewhat and came out with a really quiet video because the speaker was kind of far from the camera.
I put the video on Windows Movie Maker and edited it to the right size, put the volume as high as it could go, and you can still only hear it if you sit really close to the speakers with the volume on max and without any other noises (in the background where you are). I really need to boost the volume.
So I downloaded virtual dub because I saw it recommended somewhere. The only problem is I can't move the video unto Virtual Dub because the files I used on Windows Movie Maker are ASF files which don't work on Virtual Dub. (It just tells me it can't use ASF files)
I don't know what I should do. All I want is to boost the volume on this one video, if it's possible to do somehow.
