Hotmail Forwarding

May 28, 2005 1:33AM PDT

My Hotmail account has begun doing something unusual: when I try to forward a clean received message, the forwarding screen shows the message with a changed format, including many "editing marks" -- example is the <br> combination. Unfortunately, the forwarded message goes out in the altered state. Does anyone know how to put an end to this?

That's called REDIRECTING.

And not a feature offered by Hotmail.

I'm not sure I understand, Bob. The forwarding mutilation of messages is what Hotmail has just begun to do. Not being familiar with the term "redirecting", I can not say it explains the change to the simple "forward" function of the email server. In any semantic event, is there a way to force Hotmail to behave its original, simple self?

Here's a note about redirect vs. forwarding.

Bob, I can only say that our exchange led me to a clearer picture of the situation. While the issue of "redirect" had little to do with it, your comment that "Hotmail is in the driver's seat here" turned on my little light bulb.

Considering the source of the Hotmail server, it makes perfect and unfortunate sense that it would resent my usual reliance on an alternative browser (M Firefox). Sure enough, switching back to IE in the moments I wish to forward a Hotmail message makes all the difference in the world. It seems so basic and simple in retrospect. Thanks for your participation.
