Nope......try this
Return it to the way it was. Get the flash procedure right. You need a *bootable* floppy disk already set with the flash pgm. and the require .BIN or whatever flash update is needed. Visit the mtrbd. support website for info on the flash process procedure and update file. With the good bios chip installed and ready for "easy" removal, start the flash process but go as far as the last step before it actually starts flashing, at this point, swap bios chips and seat bad bios chip, now hit the key to start flashing. If you get an error, either the bios chip isn't the right type or a true hard fault is present with the chip.
If all this is too much, I suggest you visit this website. For some small outlay of cash, this guy can do all this for ya and provided you gave the right info, return/repair or entirely new bios chip. http://www.badflash.com
good luck -----Willy
hey bob--
well I managed to boot from the cd and I pulled out the bios chip and put in the bad one and and and
I could only type the letter "a" and the computer hung up.
also, the xferred bios chip I am using to boot, while it works, is not compatible . . . . I tried to flash it and it said this is not compatible with my system. I suspect this is from an older soyo board that someone foisted on me.
I may try shipping this off to someone who fixes these things unless you have a bettter offer. thanks! - fj
