General discussion

Horizontal Lines during playback.

Jul 11, 2006 6:14AM PDT

Hi,
I bought a Sony Handycam DCR DVD 404E a few months back, and have found the camera itself easy to use. However i struggled trying to upload the footage from the disc onto my computer for a while. Once i finally uploaded the footage onto my desktop through using the Nero program by copying the footage from there onto my desktop, i found that when i played the clips through windows media player, there were small horizontal lines whenever there was movement ont he screen, which i have been unable to correct, this has been apparent throughout almost all of the clips. Does anyone know how i can get rid of these lines?
Thanks alot for your time.
Mark

This may need more investigation.

That content is on a DVD so it's compressed plus it's at possibly only 400 or so scan lines. When we play this on our 1280x1024 (scan line) PC display, some players will not fill in the extra lines and there is no standard there what to do. Black lines might be proper while viewing on the PC when zoomed to fill the screen. Try viewing a 1X scale.

Be sure to not take the snap at more scan lines than what a TV would show since the video player could produce those lines.
