Question

Horizontal flickering lines on LED monitor screen

Aug 9, 2016 4:37PM PDT

Hi everybody Happy

I've bought an LG Monitor (24" LED) recently.

Since the first day of using it, I noticed horizontal flickering lines on the screen when a video is playing Sad

No matter if the video is playing in full screen mode or not, is playing online on a browser or by a software (VLC), one or more horizontal flickering lines appear on the screen (mostly on the upper half of the screen).

I used a different cable, changed the settings of my video card (from raising buffering to using vertical sync), but the problem persists Cry

I was so disappointed about this LG Monitor that I wanted to take it back to the store, but just for another reason I switched the user on my Windows 7 OS and logged in as Administrator, and guess what!! No more horizontal flickering lines! Shocked

I tried it several times... the problem shows up only when logged in as my regular user ID, and disappears when logged in as Admin.

Does anybody here have an explanation about this and any opinion about what the reason of the issue can be? Confused

Any help would be appreciated Happy

Looking forward to seeing replies from you friends...

Clarification Request
This sounds like some user account issue.

Did you try making a new user account and on that one, make it an admin?

Also, all this and not a word about the PC make, model, etc.

Clarification
Aug 13, 2016 2:15PM PDT

Hi,

I created a new regular user. With the new user I don't have the flickering lines problem. No matter if the new user is an Admin or not... the problem is not showing up!

I've connected my LED to my laptop (Dell Inspiron 5110N: Intel core i7, 8 GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 3000 plus Nvidia Geforce 525M with 1 GB memory).

I'm still having the problem with my current user (and it's an admin also). Do you have any idea what the reason of the issue can be? How can I keep using my current user and solve this problem?

Thanks.

Answer
User ID was corrupted.

You should always keep a spare admin account to get round this.

User ID

Hi Dafydd,

Actually, my current user is a member of Administrators group, but still having the flickering lines issue.

I created a Regular user (not admin) and I don't have this problem using that user.

What can be the reason that I have this issue only with my current user? Is there a way to continue using my current user but solve the problem?

And you've got the correct driver?

And I mean from the maker not Microsoft.
