You need a RF box from radio Shack in order to plug all devices in and an A/B switch box. The switch box will switch from VCR to DVD depending on your need at the time. Your TV will still attach as normal for the either the "output" of the final signal. Of course, you match R/W/Y connections as required. Usually, a basic instruction guide will be provided once you buy the items, if you don't already. NOW IF YOU USE the new digital TV box because yours is that old, not HD ready, then you also need to install that box as well if you want to use the new HD broadcast done now, otherwise you don't need it if only the VCR and DVD are used period.
I have an older t.v and want the simplest way to hook up a DVD player and VCR to it. I did have it hooked up at one time using a Y audio cable to hook up to the t.v and vcr audios but can't remember what went where for the audio and vcr portions for the in/ out jacks. I only have on the back of my t.v one out r/w jacks and one in y,r, w jacks. My VCR has Line out r/w/y and one Line in r/w/y
