Hooking up Surround sound system

by sampson / March 28, 2005 1:09 AM PST

Hey everyone, I recently bought a panasonic plasma tv and I have a yamaha 5650 A/V receiver surround sound system. I am looking for help on hooking up all the components correctly. I have provided a link to the picture of my receivers back view. I am not real good at the technical stuff so some help is greatly appreciated. I will be hooking up a satellite receiver with component level hookups and a dvd player with the same. Both of these components have optical audio outputs. But the tv will have rca type audio inputs.

Thanks again for any input on this subject.

That's alot to ask to write out how to hook-up what you have. Both Panasonic and Yamaha have details at their websites on hook-up info and in much more detail than what sI could give you. And there are hundreds of sites on the web for instructions for hook ups that are generic and don't necessarily have to be your paricular brand. Hope this helps.

make these connections:

optical audio (satellite) to digital input 4 (left side) on receiver

optical audio (dvd player) to digital input 3 on receiver

component video (satellite) to component video input B (top middle, the red green & blue plugs) on receiver

component video (dvd player) to component video input A on receiver

Component video from receiver "Monitor Out" to the TV.

& be sure that you have wired up all your speakers to the receiver too.

Now whenever you want to watch TV, hit the DTV/Cable button the receiver remote or hit the DVD button to watch a dvd movie.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
