Question

Hooking up 4 speakers and a sub to an Onkyo TX-SR605

Jul 11, 2017 3:24PM PDT

This amp can do a lot so it has me kind of confused. I just want to use it as a stereo system so I can play music from my phone in the aux input. I hooked up a sub woofer to the sub output on the amp and that is working and then I hooked up 2 speakers to the "front speakers" outputs on the amp and these are working as well, but when I put another pair of speakers in the "surr speakers" spot those do not work. Do I need to hook those up somewhere else?

Clarification Request
It's not called an amp. It's an AV receiver

Look in the manual. Use the Dolby Pro Logic IIx setting, or possible 'all speaker' surround mode on your Onkyo. Typically you have to assign inputs as such to get it to work properly. Again, it's in the manual Wink

Don't forget to get a center channel speaker someday too(!)

Answer
AUX is just stereo.

From the product manual "These speakers are necessary to enjoy Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES Matrix, and DTS-ES Discrete."

So look over the manual for any modes that will simulate or use this from a stereo connection.
