Hooked on diagnostic tools

Aug 8, 2010 10:28PM PDT

OK I admit it, I am a diagnostic tool junkie. I have and try a lot of them. My question is this. Can I use a multiple of tools or I should stay with one of them otherwise I am screwing my system? And which is the "chosen"?
Thanks for helping me

Depends on the tools. So maybe tell more details?

Let's see
Aug 8, 2010 10:51PM PDT

Advanced System Care
Glary Utilities
System Mechanic
IObit Toolbox
CC Cleaner
IObit Security
Registry Mechanic

System Run = Win 7 64 bits
Laptop Used = HP DV6-2136ev Entertainment

Can I run all these diagnostics safely or I will damage my system?

I wouldn't call these programs "diagnostics". Most of them claim to clean or repair your system.

Personally, I use none of them. And generally we don't recommend using any registry cleaner or optimizer or repairer.
A moderate use of ccleaner (cleaning temp files), however, is useful and recommended. But I prefer to do that manually, but that's a personal preference.
If we don't recommend using any, we don't recommend using all either.

Sounds like you are the computer user equivalent of a hypochondriac.

Would that be called a "typochondriac" ? Happy

I see.

I see titles I will only use to verify on someone else's machine or a test machine what they do. None of these are useful and have in fact resulted in damaged Operating Systems.

Go figure why anyone would use most of those.

However I do give the nod to CCleaner in it's stock settings.

Oh well

Thanks guys for taking all my satisfaction away. I feel really bad, kind of empty. What now? Iolo will not refund my money even though I accepted a 15% restocking fee. What the hell is a restocking fee for a downloadable software? Also after my acceptance they never refunded my money. What kind of company is this?
It is their software System Mechanic that causes problems to my system in its default operation of registry cleaner. And to think they have made a name as the best software of this kind. I am uninstalling it right away.

How do you know

which registry cleaner did what when you have so many of them? I also use System Mechanic and haven't had a problem.

Back in the day I was a download junkie. I use to download programs from cnet just to try them. Antivirus, antispyware, systemtools till one day someone told me not to do this. If you want a responding computer the less you put on it the better and the less problems you will have.
