homepage problem

Jan 15, 2005 11:46AM PST

Everytime I try to connect to a particular website, it will show up long enough for me to read a few titles and then it automatically connects to searcharoundthecorner.com. I have used virus protectors because we had some problems with pop-ups, but nothing has changed the outcome. If someone can relate or knows how to fix this problem, I would greatly appreciate it!

I have the same type of problem. It is spyware and it's name is WinlogonEXE . I am currently working on ridding my machine of it, so when I get some answers to the problem I will post them back to you. Soundchaser

"Searcharoundthecorner" taking over
Mar 10, 2005 8:35AM PST

Soundchaser,

I'm so glad you are looking into solving this problem because I happen to have the same issue.

The "Searcharoundthecorner" website keeps popping up on my screen no matter which address I enter it always reverts back to that site. It is very annoying. It seems to take over the home page as well.

I'm running Windows XP-SP2 with Norton Internet Security 2005 and have tried to get rid of it by running Ad-ware SE, Spybot-Search & Destroy, and CWShredder 2.1 Hijack removal tool but no such luck. I?ve even tried the Hi-jack web site to screen a log file and provide suggestions on removing ?nasty? files. All of these tools helped me get rid of other stuff but this problem keep haunting me.

The weird thing is that if I temporarily disable Norton Internet Security I can go to a different website with no problem. Once I get to another site I immediately enable Norton so that I don't get any other problems on my PC.

Any advice you could provide would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance
