Question

Homenetwork Setup crashes

Apr 10, 2017 1:41AM PDT

Hello,

I am starting to get desperate with my homenetwork setup, so hopefully someone can help me. I have 3 wireless Access Points in the house which seem to interfere with each other.

The setup is as following:

Router with 4 LAN Ports:
LAN1: DLAN into Switch with AP1
LAN2: Switch with AP2
LAN3: Switch with test PC and AP3
(LAN4: Other stuff)

Router:
FRITZ!Box 6360 Cable
IP: 192.168.178.1
DHC enabled
DCH Adress Space 192.168.178.20 - 192.168.178.200

AP1(UG)
150Mbps Wireless Range Extender
Model No. TL-WA730RE
IP: static: 192.168.178.4
DHC disabled

AP2(OG):
300M Wireless N Range Extender
Model No. TL-WA830RE
IP: static: 192.168.178.2
DHC disabled

AP3(EG):
300M Wireless N Access Point
Model No. TL-WA801N
IP: static: 192.168.178.3
DHC disabled

From my understanding these should have no way to interfere with each other. However after a while (The setup does work for a few minutes) the network becomes unstable until I can not even ping my router from the PC. Let alone have internet access. Unplugging either AP2 or AP3 instantly resolves the Problem and restores internet access. AP1 does not seem to cause Problems.

So my question is: What could go wrong in this network? And how can I test for it?

To be sure the router and APs have current firmware then if they crash, they are called defective then swapped for another make and/or model.

This is something your seasoned networker does. That is, they don't put up with bad gear.
