No router I know in the consumer class does this. Also, there is no gain in typical LANs. Go back to those that sold you this and ask them to supply what gear to get.
Setting up home LAN with 3 desktops, QNAP NAS with 2 NICs, and a cable modem/router/gateway from Comcast. I plan to use the NAS as shared file storage for 3 desktops (large shared files used daily) and want to know if I need to buy a Switch or Router (that supports LAG for the NAS) to hook all this together?
My crude diagram:
Internet --> Gateway/Cable/Modem/Router(4 ports) --> Switch or Router w/LAG? (6 or more ports) --> NAS & My 3 desktops? = happy fast file sharing and internet access?
Because I already have a router in the Gateway Cable Modem, can I just use a switch that supports LAG and connect everything to it? Is this the best way to do this or is another configuration/equipment better? Can anyone recommend best Switch or Router for this configuration?
