home theater package question

Aug 23, 2005 12:29AM PDT

i am looking to buy a home theater package. My budget i need to stay under is about $300. I know i can get better quality by buying the components separately but i dont have the funds for that so looking at a package. I have narrowed it down to 2 so just looking to see if anyone had any input for me to which might be better.
Yamaha YHT-150 or Onkyo HT-S580
The Onkyo got great reviews but has a passive subwoofer and the yamaha not as good reviews but has more connection options. any input would be greatly appreciated! thanks

if ya get a chance, can ya check it out? i'm not sure if you can add an active sub. the yamaha got decent reviews too i think and has a lot of connectivity options (not sure if i really need video inputs if i can just go straight to the tv though. ) i did read that the yamaha you can upgrade the speakers/sub down the road so i liked that. not sure if you can with the onkyo. just thought maybe someone who knows a little bit more about this stuff could help me out. thanks for the help
