Maybe Apples new iTV will work for you.
A home theater PC would do the JOB, a MAC Mini would work. You could use your laptop for this. The wireless part dose complacent it. You can get network attached storage, looks like a USB external drive but has a Ethernet port instead and gets an IP address. john
I recently got a new job and have decided that the technology in my house needs to be updated.
My goal is to set up a network based on an external hard-drive where multiple users can dump large media files (movies, pictures, music) wirelessly. I want to be able to be able to view or listen to these files through the home theatre system as well as be connect my laptop to the system for work on the widescreen TV. What, it any of this is possible. If it is possible, how do I connect all of these items? My knowledge is limited so any help is appreciated.
My thoughts are to connect PCs to the hard-drive via a type wireless device (apples airport?). My plasma has a PC input so I think the laptop connection is covered. I just don't know how to connect the hard-drive to the TV or reciever or if it is possible at all.
